Fabrication of electrospun PBCE/Pripol copolymer scaffolds for small-diameter vascular graft applications

Autologous grafts remain the gold standard for vascular reconstruction, but they suffer from donor-site morbidity and limited availability. This work develops electrospun flat and tubular scaffolds from PBCE/Pripol 1009 copolymers, whose properties can be tuned. Some formulations match native vessel mechanics, support endothelial and smooth muscle cell adhesion, and do not activate coagulation in vitro, making them promising candidates for small-diameter tissue-engineered vascular grafts.
