18-20 Novembre - Seminari per il Corso di Dottorato su intelligenza artificiale in biomedicina, fisica moderna e i suoi paradossi.

Pharmacology Lecture Hall (Biomedical Complex)
- 15:30

Scientific seminars with Professor Andrea Danani (Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence Studies – IDSIA, Lugano). The meetings will be held in the Pharmacology Lecture Hall (Biomedical Complex in V.le San Pietro 43/B)

On November 18 at 3:30 PM, focusing on Artificial Intelligence: from its origins to modern AI, including examples of Deep Learning applications in biomedical and pharmaceutical fields.

On November 20 at 3:30 PM, the topic will be Modern Physics, starting from Einstein’s Special Relativity to Quantum Physics and its apparent paradoxes. Some reflections on the concept of consciousness will also be discussed.

Short bio:
Andrea Danani graduated in Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zürich) in 1987 and earned his PhD in Theoretical Physics from SISSA-ISAS, Trieste, in 1992. He has been a Professor of Computational Sciences at SUPSI since 2005 and currently heads the Computational Biophysics Group at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence Studies (IDSIA). Andrea Danani has extensive experience in molecular and multiscale modeling of various physical and biological systems. He also collaborates with pharmaceutical companies on Virtual Screening projects that combine traditional approaches with artificial intelligence–based methods. Professor Danani is the author of over 100 scientific publications.
