[SCIENCE MONDAY] - The cerebellum contributes to emotional facial expression processing through motor, rather than perceptual, pathways

This study shows that the cerebellum contributes to emotional facial expression processing mainly through motor brain networks. Cerebellar stimulation modulated the cerebello-thalamo-motor cortex pathway when participants viewed happy and fearful faces, without affecting early perceptual processing. These findings suggest that the cerebellum helps fine-tune motor responses to emotional facial information rather than its early visual perception.
